SYNOPSIS
As welfare is systemically dismantled in the west, it is truly ironic to find such a powerful example of public health provision in the Sahara desert, in a cluster of refugee settlements. The Saharawi people, displaced but empowered through an excellent social care network, have survived 40 years of political and environmental hardships. Kafana (Enough, Already!) is a testament to them, to their defiance under oppression.
